The Future of BIM

Change is the one thing that is constant with BIM. Found a great article on HPAC about the “future of BIM” and how the cloud is allowing us to take BIM to that next level of complexity. I currently have a desktop nick named “the beast” because of it’s 8 core dual Xeon processors, 32GB of ram and a top of the line graphics card. However, some models are pushing the beast to it’s limits.

 

Over the last 10 years, the mechanical-engineering and construction industry has rapidly adopted building information modeling (BIM), an intelligent, model-based process providing insight for faster, more economical, and less environmentally impactful development and management of building and infrastructure projects. According to a McGraw-Hill Construction report,1 BIM adoption among architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms rose from 17 percent in 2007 to 71 percent in 2012.
