Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager Virtual Construction is responsible for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) trade coordination and modeling for healthcare and commercial construction projects as assigned. This position will report to the Manager of Virtual Construction.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Project Manager Virtual Construction is responsible for all phases of modeling and coordination for assigned construction projects. The APM will have the ability to manage all A/E and trade models, as well as model (Revit) miscellaneous geometry from available information, in order to coordinate the virtual construction process.  The successful candidate will also have the ability to review drawings, models, submittals for constructability issues, organize and conduct building and coordination meetings, implement 4D scheduling and prepare presentations and drawings for various construction and informational purposes.

Responsible for the integration and coordination of all project BIM/3D models; including but not limited to the following;

Managing models, drawings, other documents.  Facilitate sharing with the project team.
Prepare A/E and system models, integrate into a federated model for coordination use.
Lead weekly coordination meetings with trade detailers.
Create 4D model sequences as required.
Create various presentation graphics when necessary.
Presenting and communicating to a variety of audiences.


Preferred Degree:  Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Electrical or Civil)
Preferred Expertise:  BIM, working knowledge of professional scheduling software, Autodesk Building Design software and a working knowledge of presentation software.
Ability and willingness for travel to projects as assigned.
Preferred Experience:  Utilizing BIM with large commercial and healthcare construction projects, field construction experience with major commercial/healthcare projects.

The Future of BIM

Change is the one thing that is constant with BIM. Found a great article on HPAC about the “future of BIM” and how the cloud is allowing us to take BIM to that next level of complexity. I currently have a desktop nick named “the beast” because of it’s 8 core dual Xeon processors, 32GB of ram and a top of the line graphics card. However, some models are pushing the beast to it’s limits.


Over the last 10 years, the mechanical-engineering and construction industry has rapidly adopted building information modeling (BIM), an intelligent, model-based process providing insight for faster, more economical, and less environmentally impactful development and management of building and infrastructure projects. According to a McGraw-Hill Construction report,1 BIM adoption among architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms rose from 17 percent in 2007 to 71 percent in 2012. Where BIM goes from here will be determined by three key technological movements that are redefining the way mechanical engineers and contractors work: digital infrastructure, big data, and emerging markets…..     Read the  entire Article here

Viewpoint Construction Inc, Is seeking to fill a full time/part time BIM Modeler position.

Summary:3D modeling, MEP Coordination, Technical trouble shooting, Detailing,

Location: Riverton, UT

Requirements for consideration 2+ years experience using Revit, Revit MEP preferred.

BIM Project Engineer/Intern

Job Title: BIM Project Engineer/3D CAD Intern (Part Time/Full Time through Summer. Potential full time position consideration thereafter.)
Job Requirements: 1 yr Revit Architecture and 1 yr AutoCAD preferred. 1 yr Revit MEP a plus. 2-3 months of summer work. Hard Working, Motivated. Commercial Construction Knowledge a plus. Other 3D Experience a plus: Sketchup, Pro/E, Solidworks, Inventor, Rhino, etc.
Duties: 3D CAD Modeling and Drafting. 25-40 hrs/week. Review 2D AutoCAD, Convert to 3D Revit object sets, worksets, model organization. Some basic 3D Navisworks prep work. BIM Research and troubleshooting. We will train, but a foundation in AutoCAD and Revit is mandatory.
Wage: $9-14/hr DOE.
Must be a self-starter. Willing to take on multiple tasks and modeling projects both large and small. Communicate with Project Manager in person, via phone calls and email. Clearly document all modeling work and report to supervising PM.
