What’s new in Revit 2014?

After reviewing Revit 2014. I would say this is probably the biggest advancement in this software since 2009. Not only do I think this is a good release, this is going to be a great release. Will eliminate half of my wish-list. The added functions with the excel ability is probably my favorite along with Non Rectangular Crop regions. There’s a lot of enhancements and not all are on this list.  Once you dive into the software, you will probably see a lot of advancements that are not going to be in the list of improvements. SO enjoy!

Temporary Revit Job Opening

Cache Valley Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Building Information Modeler immediately for a job in Cheyenne, WY.  This is a temporary position intended to last for the duration of the project.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Produce drawings/models consistent with Cache Valley Electric guidelines and CAD/BIM standards
  • Utilize Revit MEP tools to develop electrical building models from basic sketches, 2D drawings and verbal instructions
  • Use the Revit family content to build BIM content for electrical system components as needed
  • Prepare 3D electrical system layouts for the Underground Coordination and Above the Ceiling Coordination
  • Directly coordinate Electrical 3D model with other MEP contractors in order to develop a fully coordinated model of electrical systems
  • Resolve conflicts with other disciplines and trades using Navisworks while adhering and improving primary electrical system design
  • Produce MEP Coordination Drawings  and Electrical Shop Drawings extracting data directly from the 3D electrical model
  • Attend and actively participate in coordination meetings with other MEP trades
  • Utilize CAD Scheduling and Takeoffs for pre-fabrication
  • Work closely with Project Manager and Superintendent to quickly and efficiently create construction documents for field use

 

Successful candidates will have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Associates degree or equivalent or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience with an architecture/engineering consulting firm or contractor
  • Electrical modeling experience using Revit MEP 2012 or later
  • Proficiency in REVIT MEP 2012 and later, as well as AutoCAD 2012 or later
  • Knowledge of Navisworks Manage 2012 or later
  • Ability to plan and organize tasks independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
